The Special Education Paraprofessional primarily works in collaboration with special education teachers and related service therapists to provide functional supports for Insight PA Cyber Charter School (ISPA) students with disabilities. Designated duties will vary depending on the individual skill needs, goal areas, and/or specialized plan objectives stated within a child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The Special Education Paraprofessional primarily works in collaboration with special education teachers and related service therapists to provide functional supports for Insight PA Cyber Charter School (ISPA) students with disabilities. Essential Functions
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to the Special Education Paraprofessional position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required; other duties may be assigned as department needs arise.
The Special Education Paraprofessional generally:
- Serves as a liaison and point of contact for students with disabilities enrolled in Career & Technical Education programs
- Works with students individually or in groups providing feedback and support to maximize student competencies in executive functioning and employability skills
- Continuously communicates with Special Education Transition Coordinators, CTE Administrators, & School Principals as it relates to unique needs for students with alternate graduation pathways
- Provides additional support to students with disabilities who have attendance improvement plans, positive behavior support plans, or other functional accommodation needs
- Maintains contact with families for students utilizing assistive communication devices, hearing aids, or other specialized device to ensure function and use is sustaining students’ access to their programs
- Collaborates with the teacher and parents in tracking student progress making sure to share feedback and qualitative data gained from working individually with students
- Collaborate with teachers and case managers to ensure that necessary class materials are prepared prior to class and, if appropriate, accounted for after class
- Attends professional development, state testing, and other travel duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent AND
- Sixty (60) credit hours at an institution of higher education OR
- Associates degree in a closely related field
- Experience working with families and/or students
Minimum Required Skill Set
- Exceptional communication and self-management skills with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to perform assigned tasks
- High level of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in developing and supporting student-centered efforts in the pursuit of their individual post-secondary goals
- Strong technical skillset and proficiency with computer-based programs and daily organizational tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in computer-based web applications, databases, spreadsheet reports, virtual collaboration software, and other multi-media solutions
- Exceptional self-management skills with the ability to work autonomously and take initiative for the betterment of the school’s service to students with disabilities
- High level of energy and enthusiasm for students in the pursuit of their desired post-secondary outcomes
- Extensive knowledge and relevant work experience in a school setting
Certifications and Credentials
- Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance
- Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check
- Federal Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) – Dept of Education ONLY
- Letter(s) of recommendation upon request
Work Environment

- This position can be performed as a home-based position, though in-office reporting may be requested when necessary.
- The noise level in the office setting is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
- Childcare is a general expectation for all Insight PA personnel according to established policy
- This position could include limited travel and could include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 10% of the cumulative 10-month school year.
