General Description: The Petersburg City Public Schools (PCPS) Educational Data Analyst provides support to the Superintendent. This position will focus on improving efficiency through collecting and analyzing data for key performance indicators, building data collection tools and providing recommendations on long term data collection requirements and solutions. This position also will prepare presentations and reports for the superintendent that will be used to support data driven decisions in order to improve efficiencies in programs and services in Petersburg City Public Schools.

Essential Job Functions
Support division data driven decision making; analyzing data to provide insights on key performance indicators.
Manage and analyze quantitative data from datasets used in long term projects, public sources, administrative sources and cross-sectional surveys collected in-house.
Create user-friendly data representations in graphical and written form (e.g. graphs, maps, with explanatory text).
Accurately and clearly document quantitative methodology for reports and for internal use
Collaborate with division data warehouse developers in the design of analytic dashboards and queries to support school reporting.
Collaborate with leadership teams to analyze relevant data and develop strategic, actionable plans for addressing areas of strength and weakness.
Collaborate with the superintendent to interpret, plan, collect, analyze, and communicate key performance indicator data to a wide variety of constituents throughout the school division.
Collect, organize, interpret and report on division-wide key performance data.
Interpret, compile and present insightful quantitative data results in easily understandable formats to a variety of audiences including the School Board and Senior Staff.
Track and analyze current trends in key performance data against organizational and government thresholds; and report its potential impact on the school division.
Use a variety of data analytic tools and statistical techniques to compile, interpret and provide key performance indicator data in an accurate and timely manner.
Advise decisions about which data systems are required to collect and manage key performance indicator data.
Ability to assist in implementing the database or data collection tool to assure long-term, success in collection key indicator data.
Interpret quantitative findings and create high-impact, relevant recommendations for audiences such as superintendent, leadership team and the school board
Write reports, including creating user-friendly graphs and data visualization alone and in consultation with the superintendent.
Consult with a wide variety of stakeholders, including those with little formal education, about the direction of research.
Ability to prepare and present performance indicators results in a manner to various audiences.
Ability to work with stakeholders to present analyses, find common themes, and identify relevant and actionable findings from evaluations.
Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to extract, clean, manage and analyze data using Stata, SAS, SPSS or R programming languages, including data that are very poorly structured and include significant errors.
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of data collection and analysis is required.
Ability to develop and present ideas effectively, orally and in written form is required.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, the School Board, and general public.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Requirement:
Master's degree or higher, in a social science with coursework and/or demonstrated ability and experience in conducting multivariate statistical analysis (master's degree in education, sociology, economics, implementation science, statistics or a related degree with demonstrated relevant quantitative research design and statistical coursework) preferred.
A candidate with a Bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of full-time (or equivalent) work experience involving applied statistics, data visualization and translation of findings into recommendations will be considered. If experience is in a university setting, please provide additional explanation of how the information was applied to help service providers, school districts, nonprofits or community members.
