This bilingual position serves an essential purpose for the support of English Language Learners and their families at Pittsburgh Brashear High School.

Reports To : School Principal

Salary :
Paraprofessional Salary Schedule (starting at $3, 636/month)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Qualifications :
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

- 60 college credits are also required.

- Full fluency (reading, writing, speaking, listening) is required in Spanish with French fluency preferred.

- A weekly log will be required, and both short and long terms goals will be created to formalize a plan of support for families and schools.

Residency Requirements : City of Pittsburgh Residency Required

Essential Job Functions :
1. Aiding in the transition of SIFE (Students with Interrupted Formal Schooling) and Newcomer students into PPS.

2. Connecting families to community resources and other local support networks.

3. Assisting teachers and schools to serve At-Risk ELLs.

4. Helping families navigate PPS structures and connecting them to district resources.

5. Providing professional development on the needs of refugees and SIFE students.

Additional Job Information :
Physical Demands: This position is primarily sedentary in nature. Employee will be required to operate computer system for data entry, and have the ability to complete necessary paperwork. This position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks.

Work Environment:
1. Indoors in busy office, working in close proximity to co-worker
2. Frequently required to work at fast pace
3. Requires considerable concentration and creativity.
4. Subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and work load.
