GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for serving as a resource for student information services (SIS) specialists and for supporting district wide student information systems; analyzing problems and issues related to the information systems and related software; performing database development for SQL data warehouse; assisting department with analytics development, structured reporting and process improvement; and assisting users with data integrity and reporting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop database queries and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to support data integrations across a variety of enterprise level software systems.

Assist with creating, auditing and submitting MOSIS data ensuring efficient and accurate reporting submissions to DESE.

Collaborate with a variety of internal parties on the collection of mandated data ensuring accurate data in district information systems.

Create data reports supporting data compliance and analysis needs in the district.

Design and support user-friendly data reporting environments from district information systems providing a high quality user experience.

Implement best practices as it relates to data reporting tools, databases, and data systems ensuring high availability and performance of district resources.

Collaborate with District and AAA department staff on a variety of projects related to data reporting and structure, including data warehouse design, state reporting and internal audits.

Demonstrate a high level of expertise and professionalism building relationships with stakeholders.

Maintain various documents, files, and records providing up-to-date reference and audit trail.

Prepare various documents providing written reference, documenting activities, and/or conveying information.

Research applications, vendors, consultants, and emerging technology to recommend products that meet district requirements of capabilities and costs and providing technical assistance to district staff.

Respond to direct inquiries from departments and school personnel regarding district supported software to resolve problems, provide information and/or assign IT personnel to address.

Performs other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Minimum of four (4) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

Must pass a Criminal Background Check

Microsoft MCSA SQL Server certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems.

Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include current, legacy and emerging operating systems; environments and network protocols; enterprise computing and equipment; advanced database concepts and best practices; business continuity and disaster recovery best practices; Inter/Intranet applications; data security, project management, processes and methodology.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
