SHARON SCHOOL DISTRICT, MA
The School Committee of Sharon, MA invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The town of Sharon (population 19,000) is located 22 miles south of Boston, almost midway between Boston and Providence, RI. Sharon residents have long identified cultural and racial diversity as a key strength of the community.
The Sharon School District is a comprehensive Pre-K to 12 system serving approximately 3,600 students. The district comprises six schools: an early childhood center, three K-5 elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Sharon has a proud and well-deserved reputation for excellence in public education. The district is dedicated to providing a rigorous, well-rounded academic experience and strong support services. Over 80% of the town’s operating budget is allocated to the schools. The FY 2021 school district operating budget is $46 million. There are also strong community partnerships that support the district’s goals and expected outcomes.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, focus on academic excellence, and support every learner to achieve their full potential. This outstanding leader should have a record of successful administrative experience and the ability to collaborate with all stakeholders. Candidates should have strong experience in team building and developing a positive school climate. This innovative and dynamic leader must possess strong community outreach and communication skills and enjoy being a visible presence in the schools and community. Qualified candidates must have successful school administrative experience combined with a background in teaching. The ideal candidate will have experience in strategic planning and subsequent implementation and oversight, and a strong understanding of school finance and budgets. An advanced graduate degree is preferred and a master’s degree is required. A Massachusetts superintendent license or eligibility for license is necessary.
The Sharon School Committee is prepared to offer a contract with a regionally competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a generous benefits package. The deadline for submitting applications is January 25, 2021, with preliminary interviews scheduled thereafter. The start date for this position is July 1, 2021.
