The mission of the Atlanta College and Career Academy is to ensure each student graduates high school with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for college and career success. ACCA aims to benefit students, employers, and the community-at-large by increasing high school graduation and college enrollment rates, providing higher levels of academic attainment, and strongly preparing students for high-skill, high-wage, and high demand careers that will lead to greater potential for local economic development.

The ACCA will open in August 2020 at the old Parks Middle School facility. Students that participate in ACCA programming will report to the ACCA facility for two hours each day and return to their home school.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The CTAE Teacher (Early Childhood Education) will be responsible for teaching the theoretical and practical concepts, strategies, and techniques associated with field of early childhood education within the Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) framework. The candidate must be adaptable to changing school and district needs and able to create and maintain a climate that promotes respect, tolerance, and peaceful problem solving for all students and teach Early Childhood courses.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reports in person to the school building to provide face-to-face instruction to students.
  • Able to provide instruction simultaneously to in-person and remote learning, if necessary.
  • Responsive to changing school and district instructional needs

  • Teaches students the fundamentals of early childhood education; including the applications and techniques commonly used in the industry

  • Instructs students using effective instructional strategies such as research projects, group discussions, cooperative learning, project and problem-based learning.

  • Presents and leads students in demonstrations and experiments utilizing appropriate procedures and protocols.

  • Teaches the proper use of equipment, instruments, relevant safety measures, and OHSA requirements.

  • Examines careers in education and effectively guides students through industry career exploration

  • Administers and/or supports the state and local standardized testing processes and polices; makes industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real world experiences for students such as classroom guest speakers, job shadows, service learning, and work-based learning; assists students as an advisor for CTAE student organizations.

  • Coordinates conferences to review student performance, behavior, and other issues. Performs various duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, recording grades,communicating with parents, attending parent meetings, offering tutorials for students.

  • Monitors students in the classroom, during lunch, and throughout the school by maintaining order and discipline in accordance with district and school policies; and attends state and local staff meetings including CTAE meetings, workshops, and other professional development opportunities.

  • Analyzes data to improve instruction and models instructional strategies which promote student achievement


Requirements :

Education:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's degree, preferred) from a GaPSC-acceted accredited institution in an early childhood education or child development related field or a GaPSC-determined equivalent.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Have at least five years of occupational work experience and/or teaching experience in the field of Early Childhood Education; post-secondary teaching experience, preferred.

Certification:

  • Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Professional certification at a T-4 level or higher, or be eligible to participate in the district's non-certification pathway.


Compensation :

Pay grade: T4-T7

Pay Range: $48, 086 to $93, 980
