TITLE: Assistant Director of Athletics - New London High School
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Connecticut certification as a teacher.
Employment as a teacher in New London Public Schools.
Successful coaching experience.
Such additional qualifications as the Board may find advisable.
REPORTS TO: NLPS Director of athletics
JOB GOAL: To assist the director of athletics in meeting the needs of student-athletes at the high school by providing opportunities to participate in a variety of interscholastic sports within the athletic program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in organizing and administering the overall program of interscholastic athletics.
Assists in determining student-athlete academic eligibility, monitoring the Student-Athlete Pathway Program and NCAA Clearinghouse evaluation
Assists in the preparation of game day operations.
Assists in recommending, developing, and implementing Board of Education rules and regulations governing student conduct at athletic activities.
Assists in coordinating schedule (MMSS Campus Practice and Game Schedule) of playing facilities with city agencies and officials.
Assists in arranging for and overseeing required student services, such as food services, physical examinations, and insurance programs.
Assists in the upkeep and maintenance of on-field equipment.
Assists with the student-athlete awards program including varsity jacket order and end of the year banquet.
Assists in the collection of all official's paperwork and staff timesheet for payroll submission.
Assists in the management of in season team operations (travel, game day logistics, cancellations, etc.).
Assists with the preparation of a proposed annual budget and ordering of needed athletic supplies.
Assists in the adherence and compliance of all NLPS, ECC and CIAC policies.
Carries out such related duties as the director of athletics may from time to time assign.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Stipend $5,200.00
EVALUATION: Annually by the director of athletics
