Job Description: Behavior Specialist
Work Days: 207
Reports to: Director of Special Services
Job Summary:
This position provides support directly to general or special education students needing emotional/mental/behavioral support.
Job Duties:
• Work directly with students inside of a general or special education classroom.
• Complete Functional Behavior Assessments
• Create effective Positive Behavior Intervention Plans
• Administers programs and services for behaviorally or emotionally disturbed students for the purpose to improve student functioning
• Assists with development of behavior goal plans and collects data for tracking and monitoring progress
• Conducts weekly social skills/conflict resolution groups with identified populations
• Develops programs aligned with school setting appropriate de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement systems, token systems, mindfulness, and motivation strategies
• Conducts pertinent training on social emotional learning topics with staff and administrators
• Models behavior intervention recommendations as part of behavior protocol training
• Works in conjunction with other school personnel as a liaison between the district and local mental health agencies
• Ensure all behavioral processes for student needs are positive student-centered
• Comply with applicable district, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations
• Performs all other duties as assigned
