    • Job Title: Technology Support & Instructional Specialist

    This position is for a qualified technology professional who meets the requirements to provide technical services and instruction in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

    Accountability

    The Technology Support & Instructional Specialist (TSIS) is hired by and is directly accountable to the principal. The TSIS reports to the Director of Technology for normal assignments. The TSIS agrees to abide by the educational policies and procedures of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Office of Catholic Schools, as well as comply with the educational policies and procedures of the local school. The TSIS cooperates with the principal and staff in providing an educational environment that promotes the ministry of Catholic education.

    General Responsibilities

    Diagnostics, troubleshooting, basic repairs, and maintenance of PC, Mac/iOS, and ChromeOS devices in an elementary/middle school setting, with a willingness to work on other systems and equipment as needed (e.g., projectors, interactive displays and boards, printers, etc.). Hours can be flexible, depending upon the candidate. Ability to manage warranty repairs for case entry, shipping, and receiving will be required, as will documentation of service and caseload management.

    Tasks:
    • Assist and lead technology instruction

    • Hardware and software diagnostics, remediation, and deployment

    • Malware prevention and remediation

    • Batch deployment and refresh assistance

    • In-person and email support

    • Simple device repair

    • Warranty repair management

    • Other duties based on need or skill-set



    The ideal candidate is task-oriented, friendly, and willing to listen to users (elementary teachers and school staff) to find the most viable solution with minimal guidance. Must be empathetic to users experiencing difficulties, and committed to both fixing problems, as well as preventing them from recurring where possible. Willing to learn, unafraid to try a fix, but aware of, and sensitive to, potential downsides and stress for end-users when systems or hardware are in a failed state.

    Environmental and Physical Demands

    The Technology Support Specialist (TSS) works in an elementary school setting, interacting with teachers and students. The TSS carries applicable technology materials and climbs stairs.
