Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health provides services for children and families to ensure a community without abuse, neglect and abandonment, so all children grow to their full potential. Based out of Viera, FL, the Assistant Principal is responsible for:

  • Assisting in overseeing general operations of the school;,serving as the Testing Coordinator for our school overseeing the testing/assessment process to include FAIR, FCAT, and all other state assessments received from multiple states/districts.
  • Providing supervision and support to new teachers enrolled in the induction program, representingDevereux at BPS monthly meetings for Secondary Assistant Principals and Elementary Assistant Principals, and providing required data entry/signatures for multiple district/state electronic systems (Brevard AS400, LAUSD Welligent, DCPS, California CAIS, etc.)
  • Supporting the alignment of curriculum to Common Core Standards, quality control for teacher documentation (such as treatment team summaries, educational assessments, etc.), and completing the scoring of educational and behavioral assessments required for IEPs and special education eligibility.
  • Processing IEP-driven 1:1 logs for revenue and School administrator for day school students, supervising issues that arise from that unique population (buses, treatment team, parent notifications, etc).

What is Devereux doing to support and protect the health and safety of our staff during the COVID-19 pandemic?

All Devereux centers have formal infectious-disease and emergency-management plans tailored to specifically address the unique aspects of COVID-19 prevention. In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization, just a few of these precautions have included:

  • Establishing enhanced cleaning and disinfection across all campuses and sites
  • Implementing social distancing protocols across all programs
  • Using PPE, including masks, gloves and gowns as indicated by the CDC
  • Ensuring daily temperature and symptom screenings for all staff and clients

Throughout the pandemic, Devereux has also supported the physical and financial health of our dedicated team members - our very own Healthcare Heroes. A variety of options have been implemented over time to support our staff, including the provision of:

  • Ongoing dedication bonuses, as well as sign-on bonuses, for direct support professionals (DSP) and other staff members
  • Flexible schedules, remote working where possible, and redeployment between programs and services
  • Hazard pay for those supporting quarantined individuals and shelter away services to frontline staff, when needed, to mitigate spread to families
  • Advancing paid time off and sick time; eliminating telemedicine costs over a period of time

Qualifications

Education:

  • Masters Degree in Education or related field required .
  • Minimum of two years experience working with behaviorally and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in an intensive setting. Supervisory/leadership skills in a special education setting are required.
  • ESE certified Preferred .
  • Educational Leadership certification required

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's license
  • Must be able to complete a one week new hire orientation class (Monday - Friday); hours are approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm each day
  • Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings which include: Drug Screen, Physical, Physical Abilities Test, TB Test and Influenza Vaccine
  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate's understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children.
