SPECIFICATION: The normal work year for this position is 180 working days. The individual employed for this position, will work under the supervision of the build Principal/Special Education Administrator. The school Social Workers provides a vital link among the school, home and community. School Social Workers are involved in providing services to all students. Social Workers assist students' with behavioral, mental, emotional or physical problems; counsel children and families in trouble; arrange for needed child and /or family services; and help to integrate special education students into the general school population. They also advise teachers on how to work with student's needs and serves as a liaison between student, home, school and community resources. Most provide direct services to students and their families including casework, group work and classroom presentations as well as providing crisis intervention and consultation and making referrals to community agencies. School Social Workers are part of the assessment process for special education students as well as often providing direct and indirect services to those students. School Social Workers consult with teachers and administrators and frequently participate on teams within the schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification: Valid Illinois Type 75 Certification with School Social Work endorsement
Education: MSW degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Experience: Preferred experience in urban school setting. Must have experience working with young children

SALARY RANGE: ( As per the Collective Bargaining Agreement)
