The HS Success Coordinator will assist the Secondary Academic Administrator with the organization, administration and supervision of school programs at the middle and high school level. They must be committed to professional growth and maintain an interest in and commitment to students, employees and families. They will direct and supervise activities, student conduct and staff performance to meet school stated objectives. This includes working with credit deficient students. They will coordinate efforts between counselors and teachers to track credit recovery course assignment and completion. They will also track students needing to meet the Essential Skills requirement for graduation. This includes but is not limited to tracking student preparation and participation in curriculum, providing students with dates and locations for testing opportunities and working with the Testing Coordinator to secure proctoring locations for all assessments based on student needs..

Instructional
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in implementing effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the entire school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school and district, including instructional programs in the Core Curriculum Content Standards, extracurricular activities, discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, program evaluation, operations, emergency procedures, and community relations. Ensure compliance with all laws, administrative codes, Board polices and regulations, including affirmative action mandates.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in leading school level planning processes to ensure the development, implementation, and evaluation of all school programs and activities.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator to establish the master schedule for instructional programs, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students that meet and exceed the State Core Curriculum Content Standards.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in implementing a system for the evaluation and selection of equipment and instructional materials that are free of prejudice and stereotyping and designed to meet the Core Curriculum Content Standards, using staff identified criteria reflecting the needs of the program.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in providing a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in incorporating procedures for the early identification of potentially disruptive students and the conditions that create or enhance unacceptable behavior (e.g., bullying), and implement programs to address such conditions.
  • Serve as role model for other teachers, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession.
  • Notify immediately appropriate personnel and agencies, and follow established procedures when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in providing opportunities for effective staff development that address the needs of the instructional program and needs of the staff, including workshops, conferences and sessions in which the staff shares successful practices and strategies.
  • Keep the staff informed and seek ideas for the improvement of the school. Conduct meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in organizing and maintaining a public relations system for the school that consistently celebrates and informs parents and the community of the accomplishments of students.
  • Assist the Academic Administrator in organizing procedures for identifying and addressing special needs of students including health related concerns, and physical, emotional, and learning disabilities, coordinating the resources of the school and community to assist the student and family
  • Conduct DDI conferences as directed by the academic administrator
  • Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the Head of School and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
  • Participate on IEP and pre-referral teams for students with special needs.

Communication and Relationship Building
  • Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents on an ongoing regular basis
  • Conduct regular conferences with parents/responsible adults and students to assess each child’s progress, learning style, and any other academic, social or developmental issues.
  • Conduct regular conferencing sessions for students and/or teaching adults on academic topics of need or interest.
  • Organize service-learning opportunities that support student development.
  • Elementary and Middle School Teachers support learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment, in line with academy policies and procedures.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in the school.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees.
  • Represent the school and district at community, State, and professional meetings and conferences.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of communication with the Special Programs staff in regards to shared students and comply with accommodations and modifications of student plans.
  • Collaborate with Special Programs staff regarding development and planning of lessons to ensure scaffolding, including instructional strategies, for student learning styles and skills.
  • Supports students and learning coaches with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment including basic computer troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates understanding of how both diverse and unique characteristics of students and their families impact required support.
  • Works collaboratively with other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among the stakeholders.
  • Responds to students, parents and colleagues in timely manner.
  • Support ORVA administrators with school information sessions.

  • Travels to testing sites to proctor state exams.
  • Support ORVA administrators with school information sessions.
  • Adhere to Oregon school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, Board of Education policies and regulations, school regulations and procedures, and contractual obligations.

  • Helps staff with enrollment or retention efforts as requested
  • Participation in committees as requested.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field
  • At least three years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience

Other Required Qualifications
  • Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught and ability to apply critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of state content standards and ability to align those with the K12 curriculum.
  • Ability to embrace change/ adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and have a high level of organization.
  • Understanding of interdependency of deadlines on multiple projects and able to act to preserve integrity on other people's deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently typically 40+ hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed to meet programmatic requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during flexible working hours best designed to meet student and other programmatic needs.
  • Ability to travel as required (on average once per month and/or approximately 10% of the time) for face to face professional development, student testing, and as required by school Access to reliable high speed internet.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word; PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum.
  • Ability to clear required background check.

  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick and mortar environment.
  • Experience with Blackboard Collaborate or other online platforms.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid Oregon administrative license.
