    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's degree with a major in food service, family and consumer science, home economics, or a related field. The program of study shall have emphasized institutional administration, dietetics, foods, or nutrition. Advanced degree preferred.
    2. Five (5) or more years' experience in food service management, at least two (2) of the five (5) shall have been in a school district. Experience at the Director or Assistant Director level preferred.
    3. Accounting and budgeting experience.
    4. Knowledge of nutrition, sanitation, food safety, and laws/regulations governing food service operations.
    5. Computer skills in latest operating system of Microsoft Windows and associated software, including Point of Service and nutrition analysis for school food service.
    6. Satisfactory work record & criminal/child abuse clearances (Acts 24, 34, 82, 114, and 151).
    7. Such additional or alternatives to the above qualifications as the board or superintendent may determine appropriate and acceptable.

    Summary:
    Plans, directs, and manages all aspects of the Child Nutrition Program for the district. Oversees meal service for all schools, staffing for all school cafeterias, fiscal management, and compliance with regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal level by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Administers and enforces all human resource and departmental policies pertinent to food service staff and cafeteria managers.
    2. Prepares specifications and bid conditions for all food service items requiring bids by law or School Board policy.
    3. Operates a program of cooperative purchasing among cafeterias for high volume items such as bread, milk, and canned goods.
    4. Submits applications and agreements for all federally funded food service programs, including National School Lunch Programs, Summer Food Service, and the Government Commodity Donated Food Program.
    5. Supervises all accounts payable operations for cafeteria food, supplies, and equipment.
    6. Arranges for audits of cafeteria accounts through approved auditors as per school district policy.
    7. Reviews and recommends all requests for the purchase of new and/or replacement equipment in cafeterias and kitchens.
    8. Plans and supervises the preparation and service of menus/meals in all school locations including special diet requests for students.
    9. Consults, as needed, with school planners and architects on plans and specifications for new or renovated food production centers.
    10. Inspects school facilities and operations to ensure standards of diet, cleanliness, health, and safety are maintained.
    11. Maintains all inventories of food, supplies, and equipment
    12. Prepares and administers the departmental budget that includes preparation of all federal, state, and local reports and claims for reimbursement.
    13. Conducts workshops and/or in-service programs for food service staff.
    14. Supervises the processing of all free and reduced-price meals eligibility and the verification of these applications.
    15. Supports and provides leadership in the implementation of the district's wellness policy.
    16. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned or delegated by the Chief Financial Officer or the Superintendent of Schools.
