Specialist - Educational Data - Research and Evaluation

General Description

Serves as an integral part of the Department of School Improvement and office of Research and Evaluation, Ensures the strategic use of educational data and analytics to inform decisions made at the division and school level, reflective of federal and state guidelines, division priorities, and school needs. Designs, reports, and manages dashboards that are interpretable by a broad range of individuals. Provides professional development and training designed to maximize the benefit from available data, to include increasing the data literacy of division and school leadership teams.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the division’s data warehouse and dashboarding solution.
  • Maintain business rules and technical documentation for data systems.
  • Analyze a variety of local, state, and national data to examine the efficacy and efficiency of programs at all levels of the organization.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders to design reports and dashboards on critical functions.
  • Attend, and lead as appropriate, training sessions and site meetings related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Partner with the Department of Technology to ensure data quality and good data governance across multiple systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge and training in statistical methodology and programming.
  • Support division research priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Excellent research, analysis, and problem-solving skills including proficiency in advanced statistical methodologies; a proven track record of deploying these methods on educational data a plus. Demonstrated ability to extract, transform, and load data and merge data from multiple systems. Expertise in R, SQL, or other languages required. Familiarity with Tableau. Demonstrated project management experience, preferably in systems implementation and/or management. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong listening skills (important for communicating to technical and non-technical team members).
Requirements

Graduate degree with strong focus on quantitative analysis and/or computer science.
