Overview

This position oversees the countywide Bible History program by providing educational leadership to participating schools and teachers. The Content Leader ensures the implementation and compliance of curriculum, instruction, and assessment in all participating public middle and high schools. This position serves as the official communications liaison between Hamilton County Schools and Bible in the Schools to ensure the growth and success of the countywide Bible History program, as well as the smooth functioning of the community partnership. This position works in collaboration with Bible in the Schools and principals to ensure compliance as well as the supervision, accountability, and instructional leadership of the Bible History teachers. This position is part of the leadership team and works collaboratively with principals and Bible History teachers to support learning and to ensure alignment across Hamilton County Schools.

Responsibilities

  • Working in conjunction with Bible in the Schools and school principals, the Content Leader will provide educational leadership to participating Hamilton County Bible History schools and teachers.
  • Serve as the main liaison between Hamilton County Bible History teachers and the staff and Board of Directors of the program's 501(c)(3) funding entity, Bible in the Schools.
  • Maintain knowledge of Tennessee state certification requirements and procedures.
  • Assist district Bible History teachers in the development, implementation, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of Bible History curriculum implementation to ensure alignment between Tennessee State standards, summative, interim and formative assessments, curricular resources, and professional learning for teachers.
  • Ensure that principals, guidance counselors, and teachers are aware of and adhere to the legal guidelines of the Bible History program.
  • Promptly assist Bible History teachers in addressing parent/guardian questions or concerns.
  • Complete assigned duties that align with the strategic direction, mission, and vision of HCS.
  • Exhibit a conceptual understanding of Bible History content that surpasses instructional techniques.
  • Implement research-based strategies that help Bible History teachers develop learning goals.
  • Track district academic data from Bible History student pre- and post-test evaluations with fidelity in order to help Bible History teachers monitor their impact.
  • Participate in school, district, and specific network professional development activities.
  • In conjunction with respective school administration and supporting funding entity requests, hold teachers accountable to fulfill professional objectives and implement best practices.
  • Collect formative assessment data for each school; collate and report data electronically and promptly as requested by Bible in the Schools President and Program Committee Chairman.
  • Observe Bible History teachers at least once per quarter in order to provide instructional support and encouragement while training them in pedagogical best practices, classroom management, and technology integration.

Qualifications

  • Tennessee Teaching/Administrator's License (6-12)
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field; Master's degree or higher strongly preferred or as required by state guidelines.
  • Minimum of five (5) years previous experience in school administration or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, Board members, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrated tactfulness in addressing interpersonal conflict and mediation.
