National Heritage Academies (NHA) is actively seeking a school Science Curriculum Specialist who will support schools in curricular needs relating to professional development, programs, assessment development, resources and documents. The Science Curriculum Specialist will report directly to the Curriculum Manager and will be a member of the corporate Curriculum and Instruction team.

Ideal candidates will be located in North Carolina, Louisiana, or Michigan and will have a proven track record as a dynamic science teacher with experience teaching a variety of content and a strong background in unit planning and assessment development. In addition, we are seeking candidates that are skilled in the incorporation of literacy standards and have familiarity with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core standards for literacy in science.

Your Role

  • Provide curriculum and assessments for science teachers in 9 states.
  • Actively track and evaluate the effectiveness of created resources.
  • Provide professional development for science teachers.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to observe, model lessons, and coach science teachers in all NHA schools as requested.
  • Research and promote best practices in assigned content areas
  • Maintain and enhance current projects


Requirements

  • Candidates ideally located in the Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, or Michigan
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education is required, Master's Degree preferred
  • 4-10 years of teaching experience preferred
  • Experience presenting to adult learners
  • Ability to work independently
  • Extensive experience working in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent communication skills is essential, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel as required - 15-50% of time. Travel is currently reduced to COVID-19.
