Job Summary
The Instructional Information Systems Specialist (IISS) provides support for Anchorage School District instructional applications and programs. This individual is responsible for providing support to staff, parents, and students using ASD applications. The IISS works closely with other ASD staff to implement, support, and manage district and vendor applications. The Instructional Information Systems Specialist trains staff, students, and families on the use of ASD applications, provides direct support to all application users, and helps technical staff implement applications in a way that supports educators and students in ASD. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

Job Requirements
The following are required:
  1. A bachelor's degree. Equivalent experience, education, and training may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.Five years of progressively responsible experience in customer or user support with an emphasis on digital applications or programs.A current Alaska driver's license and transportation to be used for district business.

The following are preferred:
  1. Experience supporting educators with online applications and programs.Experience working in a large educational institution.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Provides superior customer service to Anchorage School District staff, students, and families.Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with others, including effective communication with all levels of management, supervision, and other ASD personnel.Collaborates and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of ASD applications.Develops and maintains necessary documentation and training materials.Provides training and support for applications and online programs.Provides onboarding support to new users of applications and programs.Coordinates and provides logistical support to internal and external stakeholders.Complies with ASD policy and program standards and with state, federal, and local laws and regulations.

Physical /Mental Demands
The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions, personalities and abilities, including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings.

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
