JOB GOAL
Implement the special education assessment process. Assess the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel to develop the most appropriate programs for students with disabilities.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master's degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Educational Diagnostician (preferred)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Receive student referrals and implement the assessment and evaluation process within state timelines.
• Conduct Full and Individual Evaluations (FIEs) and Dyslexia Assessments.
• Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student's cumulative folder, classroom teachers(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource people.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers and other relevant staff members in developing and implementi ng IEPs
• Coordinate and participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and development of Individual Education
• Coordinate and participate in 504 meetings to assist with interpretation of assessment data and development of services.
• Assist RtI teams on assigned campuses.
• Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel in identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
• Assist classroom teachers with implementation of IEP.
• Consult with parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
• Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
• Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
• Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.
• Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the assessment program and make changes based on findings.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
• Comply with policies and timelines established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of assessment, placement, and planning for special education services. Job Descriptions - Human Resources Department
• Ensure assigned campuses comply with state and federally mandated timelines and compliance requirements .
• Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations.
• Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
• Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and coworkers
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
• Ability to analyze data
• Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
• Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
• Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
• Moderate travel is required.
