PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for providing educational support and personal assistance for students under the direction of the teacher.

REPORTS TO: Principal
SALARY SCHEDULE: G-5
WORK DAYS: 200

REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Education Level: High school diploma Preferred : Associate's degree
  2. Experience, Skill, and Certification:
  • Must meet Highly Qualified criteria for state licensure of either:
  • - 2 years of college course credits;
  • - Associate's degree; or
  • - Passing grade on the state approved assessment.
  • Demonstrable ability to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher and to guide students with enrichment, remedial, and independent work as set up by the teacher.
  • Knowledge of general office computer software applications, as well as use of the internet.
  • Appropriate oral and written communications skills with students, parents, and co-workers.
  • Must have the physical ability, dexterity, endurance, and temperament to work with students.
PREFERRED:
  • Experience with the set up and operation of instructional equipment and materials
  • Experience in managing the behavior of children
  • Experience with children with special needs
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Be responsible for the supervision, operation and safety protocols of the At-Work Instructional Support Center.
  2. Conducts COVID 19 screening for student entry.
  3. Provides consistent in-person support for the education of students 4-12.
  4. Ensures students receive meals and breaks as necessary.
  5. Assists with virtual learning log on and technology needs.
  6. Ensures an attendance log is kept daily.
  7. Ensures parents complete an Emergency Contact Form and keep updated information readily available.
  8. Ensures that they are aware of the student's class schedule, so students attend classes at the appropriate time.
  9. Ensure students get appropriate medication from the site school nurse if required.
  10. Assists with instructional support for assigned students in support of, and under the direction of, the teacher.
  11. Prepares activities for student breaks and preparation of bulletin boards, displays, exhibits, and related classroom and school displays.
  12. Participates in in-service training programs.
  13. Assists individuals and/or small groups of students in various educational settings including the media center, computer lab, and community-based instructional settings.
  14. Assists with instruction in the physical education program as necessary.
  15. Assists students in feeding, toileting, and other daily care routines as necessary.
  16. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. The work calendar will be the classified 200 day schedule.
