Preschool Assessment Team Instructional Assistant

Roanoke County Public Schools is seeking applicants interested and qualified in a position as a Preschool Assessment Team Instructional Assistant at Mason's Cove Elementary School. This is a full-time, 240-day position, 7.33 hours per day with benefits paid on Grade 3 of the RCPS pay paln..

Position Description/Job Summary:

The PKAT Instructional Assistant supports the Program Manager and PKAT members, is familiar with policy and procedures for Preschool, and maintains confidential records.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  • Assist Program Manager and PKAT members in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks.
  • Help maintain individual records for each student.
  • Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing special education, preschool, and grants.
  • Help maintain order in the assessment area.
  • Perform a variety of office assistance tasks such as photocopying, filing, answering the telephone, etc. as required. Perform related work as required.
  • Schedule appointments for Program Manager and PKAT
  • Monitor inventory within the assessment area
  • Operate all office filing systems
  • Maintain Preschool Class Lists
  • Utilize database system to pull reports for grants
  • Process and Maintain Virginia Preschool Initiative Applications and Tuition Applications
  • Maintain database for Preschool
  • Assist with Little Feet Meet Planning and Operations
Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications : (statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications).
  • Ability to maintain confidential files and information
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and community agencies
  • Ability to operate standard office
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
Educational Requirements:
A minimum of 24 college credits OR successfully completed the Parapro Assessment.
