POSITION SUMMARY
The Instructional Coach is a motivational and inspiring educator with a wide range of experience in developing learner centered and culturally relevant practices. The Instructional Coach is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers and administration with the goal of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement, and building teacher capacity. Having expertise in Digital Learning, and models such as SAMR, the Instructional Coach works to supports teacher practice in general education. The role supports teachers and leaders in building digital learning skills, aligning curriculum, using data to inform instruction, and providing ongoing professional development to schools.
Coaching related responsibilities:
- Increase student achievement by supporting teachers and school leaders for improving instructional quality.
- Facilitate integration of instructional best practices, strategies, and methodologies in and across all content areas.
- Work with teachers individually, in collaborative teams, and/or with departments, to provide practical support on a full range of topics and strategies to include literacy and language development and SIOP strategies.
- Provide ongoing professional development for teachers, school leaders, district administrators, tutors and support staff that aligns with district and department goals and initiatives.
- Provide in-service training and follow-up coaching to assist classroom teachers in the use of best practices in their classrooms.
- Build strong relationships with teachers and leaders that support a growth mindset and restorative practice.
- Use instructional coaching protocols and structures including conferring, co-teaching, facilitation, model lesson design, data dialogues, and benchmarking student work.
- Encourage the use of research-based practices and work closely with state and national affiliation and conduct research around new practices.
- Conduct workshops for parents to support parents as partners in their child's literacy development.
- Use a wide range of technologies and applications to enable adult virtual learning environments and to support teachers and leaders through virtual coaching and professional development
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes

- Use strong interpersonal skills to create collaborative and collegial relationships with teachers and school leaders
- Share a growth mindset with students, families, and staff.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills including presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint., Teams); Google Suite, Web conferencing tools, and social media, web design and media production.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Current Connecticut Teacher Certification in a relevant area
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience including working in a Digital Literacy focus
- Experience in designing and delivering quality professional development for teachers and leaders
- Previous coaching or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
Google Certified Trainer, ISTE Certified Educator, Microsoft Certified Trainer, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert
