Brief Description The Director of School Administration is a Division leader responsible for the strategic direction, organization, and coordination of several key components of the Department of Instruction as they relate to the operations of schools, including discipline matters, athletics, stakeholder services, communication, comments and complaints.

Detailed Description The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:
* Coordinates and supports the work of all Division principals in responding to stakeholder concerns; supervises and evaluates athletics programs across the Division
* Supervises and evaluates discipline programs for the Division; stays abreast of applicable state and national policies; provides training and support to principals and assistant principals in discipline matters.;
* Collaborates on discipline and school climate initiatives with the Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services.
* Collaborates on safety and security operations at all schools with the Supervisor of Safety & Security in the Department of Support Services.
* Engages in strategic planning of budgets and administers the budgets of assigned programs; coordinates grant applications relevant to areas of responsibility.
* Assists in the interview process of identified new personnel; conducts short-term and long-range planning; approves and monitors contracted services agreements; reviews and makes recommendations to policy revisions as needed; reviews and monitors joint projects with other agencies and institutions; responds to requests for information from the public.
* Serves as the staff liaison to and participates in the activities of the School Board Discipline Committee; Serves as the Superintendent's designee at School Board discipline hearings; attends School Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction may request.

Job Requirements Below are the qualifications for this position:
* Master's Degree and a Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in school administration
* Seven years of progressive overall education experience in teaching, supervision, administration, with a minimum of three years focused on school administration
* Demonstrated experience in developing and tracking budgets
* Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction, curriculum, student learning and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of the laws
* Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
* Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
* Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
* Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators and teachers

Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
