The William Julius Wilson Institute (the Institute), housed at the Harlem Children's Zone, is the leading authority on and resource for place-based, people-focused strategies, support services and tools that close opportunity gaps in neighborhoods across America. The Institute seeks a fulltime Assistant Director, Technical Assistance to coordinate across the team and provide direct support to the team's leader, HCZ's Managing Director of Public Policy and External Engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate lifecycle of technical assistance (TA) for entities engaged in place-based work across the country
  • Serve as liaison between the Wilson Institute, national place-based organizations, TA providers, and other partners
  • Process and track assessments of entities' needs, requested support, and assistance provided
  • Maintain toolkit of technical assistance materials, support updating and refining tools as needed
  • Manage logistics of partnerships, including travel and virtual engagements, execution of MOUs, contracts, and invoices
  • Support team recordkeeping and maintain contact database
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • Commitment to the mission and values of HCZ
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook; experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) preferred
  • At least 2 years' project management experience with strong ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload
  • Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a broader team including external stakeholders
  • Ability to engage with strategic partners and external stakeholders and in a professional and tactful manner
  • Experience in TA or consulting preferred
  • Masters' degree in public administration, sociology, psychology, human development, education or a related field, or commensurate experience
