Program Expectations
A high level of customer service to site-based coordinators - including a commitment to child safety, ensuring a positive volunteer experience is being delivered, and strong communication with program stakeholders is provided - is critical to success in the position.
The Lead Site-Based Mentoring Coordinator will:
Serves as primary point of contact for site-based coordinators (SBC) respective to elementary and secondary schools.
Provide high-quality engagement to ensure match support services are done consistently and positively.
Establish rapport with SBCs; Address any concerns about mentor/mentee conductor or conflict, advising Equity, Inclusion and Innovation (EII) staff in a timely manner.
Oversee site-based coordinators to promote a high quality match experience by ensuring compliance with EII Standards of Practice for match support.
Regularly assess the effort and progress of the SBC's work with monthly virtual check-ins to ensure (in-person visits reserved for extreme cases, max 1 day per month):Mentor sign-in book is being utilized properly
Match rosters are being maintained to include matches, unmatches and withdrawn students, etc.) and EII office is receiving regular updates.
Administrative files are organized, maintained and accessible (IMS and hardcopies as needed).
SBCs are making welcome phone calls to all new mentors as an initial point of contact prior to mentor's first visit.
Effectively represent the Lead as a community liaison to help improve overall KCPS mentoring programs' brand awareness.
Additional 2-3 check-ins each month with EII; 3-5 touchpoints with SBCs
I accept my commitment to serve as a Lead Site-Based Mentoring Coordinator and I will:
Support the Kansas City Public Schools Mentoring program guidelines
Consistently share progress or any concerns with my Principal and the District Coordinator of Mentoring Services
Attend monthly coordinator meetings
Skills and Qualifications
Demonstrated the ability to execute the SBC role and responsibilities at a proficient level.
Bachelor's Degree preferred with experience teaching or working in an educational setting preferred.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience with youth, program management, volunteer management, and/or community or school partnerships is very desirable
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Capability to maintain the organization of mentoring supplies and data.
Reliable, versatile and a self-directed multi-tasker. Able to manage multiple systems.
Proficiency in technical areas, such as the Microsoft Office Suite and cloud-based technology. Accurate, attentive, and expeditious data-entry skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills reflecting solid customer service both in-person, via email, and over the telephone.
Ability to maintain an approachable professional demeanor and effectively collaborate with other staff as well as community partners.
