   License and Certification Qualifications: Valid Georgia teaching certificate preferred.

Education Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in assistive technology, special education, occupational therapy/physical therapy, or related field required. Master's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Three years experience working (Pre-K -12th grade) with students in an educational/therapeutic setting utilizing assistive technology/augmentative communication required.

Skills Qualifications: Working knowledge of a variety of assistive technology devices, equipment, and software programs for utilization with students with a variety of special needs; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent decision making skills; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide assistance to special education students, educators, and team members in determining, providing, and training for assistive technology based upon student Individual Education Plan (IEP) objectives.

1. Provide consultation of student needs for assistive technology.

2. Assist in the acquisition of assistive technology through established district and departmental protocols.

3. Provide training to students, educators, and other IEP team members in the knowledge and use of assistive technology equipment, devices, and software.

4. Travel throughout the district to provide consultation, training, in-service presentation, and setup as needed.

5. Inform appropriate departmental and district personnel of pertinent information/updates regarding technology and its use via e-mail, Internet, telephone, fax, letters, and reports.

6. Maintain inventory of equipment and software.

7. Correspond with technology company representatives and technical support departments via telephone, e-mail, and fax.

8. Complete paperwork and follow procedures required of all district employees.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
