St. Laurence High School is seeking a full-time Band Director and Music teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year. The position may include the option for part-time employment January - May 2021.

The full-time position of Band Director at St. Laurence includes the following:

• Direct and manage the Band program


• Teach all courses related to instrumental music


• Provide students with the opportunity to participate in band activities and competitions


• Plan activities to achieve school, regional, and state recognition


• Coordinate recruitment efforts for the sustained growth of the Band program

Applicants must provide a detailed description of their long-term vision for the Band program and recruiting.

Qualifications:

• BA degree; MA preferred


• Valid state teaching credentials


• Teaching experience preferred

Competencies:

• Background suitable for leading a high school band program and teaching instrumental music


• Understanding of educational theory and practice


• Ability to use technology inside and outside the classroom


• Commitment to working with a diverse student population


• Commitment to collaboration

• Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program


• Ability to manage budget and personnel


• Knowledge of standards governing band


• Ability to implement policy and procedures


• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
