St. Gall is a Catholic School looking to fill a full-time, first grade teaching position for the 2020-2021 school year. This position is responsible for instructing and supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. The qualified candidate will also be responsible for implementing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and school administration.

Responsibilities:

• Implement the Everyday Math, Mystery Science, and Lucy Caulkins Reading and Writing Workshop curriculums
• Plan and execute lessons weekly.
• Work with teaching assistant, providing them with lesson plans and jobs in order to support student learning
• Create and implement clear routines and procedures to allow for maximum learning time.
• Manage student behavior using the tenets of Responsive Classroom for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Promote high expectations, demonstrate a caring attitude, and establish an environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development in students through the teachings of growth mindset.
• Maintain records of student work and development to inform instruction
• Evaluate the progress of each student through formal and informal assessment.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development.
• Communicate with parents often to discuss student growth and progress, methods for improvement, and ways to work together to support student goals.

Educational Requirements:

• BA or BS in Elementary Education, or a related field. Current Illinois Professional Educator's license required.
