PSEA, a professional education/labor organization based in Harrisburg, PA is seeking candidates for a position responsible for guiding the association's positions on educational equity and education policy issues. The position requires a deep knowledge of education research, teaching and learning practice, and state and federal education policy with an understanding of the impact of each of these on different student and educator populations. The position also requires qualitative and quantitative research skills and the ability to analyze information and write and present for multiple audiences. A significant portion of the work in this position involves advocacy for effective education policymaking. Another significant responsibility in this position is helping educators understand the impact of policy on their work and also helping policymakers understand the impact of specific policies on educators, students, and schools. The individual in this position should be prepared to engage in highly visible work with educators, state agency personnel, and staff of other education associations.

The successful candidate will have a passion for advocating for educators, students, public education, and organized labor. Commitment to equity and social justice is a must. The ability to self-start, plan, collaborate, analyze complex situations, compromise, and problem solve are necessary. Familiarity with the requirements of PA and Federal education legislation and regulation is desirable.

A master’s degree in a relevant field is required, doctorate preferred. This position will include a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive starting salary.
