Position Summary:
- Billing
- Cash application
- Customer assistant in billing to parish and schools
- Bank deposits
- Monthly report for A/R activity
- Provide back-up support to the Accounts Payable operations.
Responsibilities:
- Generates monthly statements to all the Parishes, Schools, and Agencies of the Archdiocese
- Reconcile monthly A/R activity accounts
- Daily deposits of all checks received into accurate bank accounts
- Post customer payments by recording cash, check transactions and EFT in Lawson
- Resolves any issues with billing invoices and payments
- Summarizes receivables by maintain A/R activity accounts, coordinating monthly account activity, verifying totals, and preparing monthly reports
- Provide back-up support to the Accounts Payable operations.
- Perform related-accounting and periodic close activities as needed
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting.
- Experience in not-for-profit organizations is preferred.
- General Accounting experience, with good business acumen and analysis capabilities.
- Initiative-taking-ability to assume independence and suggest opportunities for continual improvement.
- Strong interpersonal skills-ability to build confidence and trust with a wide range of internal customers.
- Comfortable with high change environments and transformation/turnaround environments.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, including with non-Finance functions.
- Strong detail orientation and willingness to engage in detail as necessary, without sacrificing the overall perspective of the operations and process.
- Major financial systems experience is desirable: Microsoft Office suite; Lawson G/L or comparable software.
- Demonstrated high integrity and ethics in all operations and responsibilities
- Affinity for mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations and a commitment to serving the Catholic Church in the Chicago area. Must demonstrate understanding, respect and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission and values. Hiring preference will be given to candidates who are Catholic.
