Role Mission:
The  Salesforce Administrator and Data Analyst is a cross functional leadership position that sits on the advancement team and works closely with IT and the business office. You will focus on the development, implementation, and maintenance of a custom-built Salesforce solution to support the advancement team with fundraising as well as third party and AppExchange integrations. This role drives operational productivity and maximizes the use of the Salesforce platform. This position enhances the ongoing development of the Salesforce environment in support of the IDEA Advancement Team's prioritization of excellent donor stewardship and ability to account for every donor dollar in service to our students.

 You will play a critical role in managing, developing and maintaining Salesforce to support the Advancement Team's efforts to manage, steward and account for philanthropic efforts that fuel IDEA's mission to prepare every student to get to and through college. You are a "roll up your sleeves" entrepreneurial leader and you don't wait for direction to achieve the goal. 

You can easily produce reports and data visualizations to inform the team, but your real superstar power is your ability to listen to teammates, identify process/workflow gaps and create customized Salesforce solutions to solve problems. This is a remote position and reports to the Director of Advancement Operations.

Accountabilities

Create Customized solutions to guide decision making and strategy
  • Develop customized solutions within the Salesforce platform to support critical business functions and meet project objectives, team requirements, and organization goals    
  • Develop and maintain custom Apex Classes and Triggers as well as custom Lightning Components
  • Administer, support, and maintain both internal and customer-facing use of Salesforce, related to custom applications, user permissions, security settings, custom fields/objects, workflows, and data management    

Create and maintain dashboard reports
  • Partner with the Chief Advancement Officer and Vice Presidents to develop and maintain easy to read weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress to goal reports for regional and national development efforts
  • Support Salesforce users in the creation of personalized reporting dashboards
  • Ensure 100% of scheduled reports are delivered on-time and accurate with real-time data

Serve as the team Salesforce administrator to ensure Salesforce is constantly accessible and actively maintained
  • Collaborate with the IT and business teams, identifying cross-functionally opportunities to create functional and scalable solutions    
  • Remain current on new Salesforce features and functionality to ensure compatibility with existing development and proactively recommend solutions to potential issues 
  • Provide training and support to advancement team members and business office colleagues
  • Maintain database back-end functionality, updating as needed, running deduping programs and naming convention checks to support data integrity

 
Ensure data integrity through data input and analysis
  • Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly processes for ensuring 100% of records in salesforce are entered with accuracy and reconciled to the general ledger
  • Develop a process to automate the entry of monthly grant drawdown payments into salesforce
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business office counterparts in order to maintain data integrity between salesforce and accounting
  • Lead monthly meeting with business office partners to monitor reports for incoming grants, forecasts, receivables and gift acceptance policies and procedures


Qualifications:  
  • Education:  
    • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field of study preferred, equivalent work experience accepted in lieu of degree
  • Experience: 
    • Salesforce Administrator and/or Platform Developer I certification required

 

Knowledge and Skills:  

  • Salesforce platform experience (administration and/or development)
  • Experience with custom Salesforce development preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce Lightning and Lightning Design System
  • Strong experience with and understanding of the Salesforce data model
  • Experience working in an agile environment a plus
  • Ability to stay abreast of new Salesforce features and options (i.e. products, plug-ins, release updates/ functionality, etc.)
  • Experience integrating Salesforce with 3rd party systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Must have strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Customer service and results oriented with the ability to consistently meet deadlines

Compensation: Salaries for people entering this role typically start between $51,900 and $61,800, commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational goal attainment.
