JOB GOAL
Performs various accounting activities. Reviews financial transactions. Supports district with accounting and banking issues. Assist in preparing journal entries and budget changes. Assists with preparation of annual audit. Communicates and collaborates with the department staff to enhance service to the district.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the field (preferred)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist district accountant in all types of accounting needs of the district.
• Review online bank activity on a daily basis to check for any unusual transactions.
• Preparation / review of journal entries.
• Review purchase orders, account coding, invoices, and expense claims in detail
• I dentifying purchases, sales of fixed assets, and prepayments/accruals .
• Prepa ration of schedules for year- end accounts and audit filings.
• Assist in reconciliations and filing expenditure reports for federal, state , and private grants.
• Maintain fixed asset information including providing monthly updates, periodic reconciliation, and depreciation calculations.
• Foster positive morale by participating in team building activities and the decision- making process.
• Comply with policies estab lished by federal and state law; including but not limited to State Board of Education , TEA, and local Board policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, b oth internal and external to the organization.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
• Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone
• Ability to analyze financial data and reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
• Night s and weekend activities may be occasionally required.
• Position i s in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
• Moderate travel may be required.
