Immediate Supervisor: Principal

Position Summary: The assistant principal performs administrative and supervisory responsibilities designated by the principal. The assistant principal will work directly with the principal in order to provide leadership in overall and daily school management.

Duties: The assistant principal has the duties commonly associated with the position, in accordance with all relevant statutes, policies, regulations, and contractual agreements,which shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

Work directly with the principal to plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate the overall operation of the school

Share responsibility with the principal for conducting teacher and staff evaluations per the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Model and Collective Bargaining Agreement

Support the special education needs of students as necessary

Handle discipline within the school and lead a pro-active approach to bullying issues

Assist the principal in coordination and administration of state assessments

Collaborate with the principal, staff, and community on strategic planning

Monitor student attendance and residency

Work with the principal to update and implement school safety and student health plans

Oversee and support after school student academic support services

Conduct conferences with students and parents/guardians

Provide professional development to staff

Attend school related events as directed by the principal

Participate in new teacher orientation as directed by the principal

Oversee development of 504 Plans

Assume the responsibilities of the principal in their absence

    Job Requirements
    • Requirements:
      Master's degree in education
      Experience teaching at the elementary level
      DESE certification as Asst. Principal/Principal (Elementary)
      Comfort with technology implementation and usage in an elementary school setting
      Experience administering the DESE Teacher Supervision Model preferred

      All offers of employment with Mount Greylock Regional School District are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the employment screening process to include SAFIS CHRI federal and CORI state background check reports.
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
