Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a full-time 3rd Grade teacher for the Academics Virtually Achieved (AVA) program.

Description: The AVA Teacher supports students remotely to achieve learning outcomes aligned with grade level district standards across disciplines. The AVA Teacher is highly skilled at being able to motivate students through authentic and empowering learning tasks remotely. This role will require a strong background in inquiry processes, goal setting, supporting students with executive functioning skills and the ability to help students learn process skills in addition to academic skills. The AVA Teacher will be able to foster a sense of psychological safety among students and encourage social connections among peers virtually. The AVA Teacher will serve as a model for professional learning, and stay apprised of research and best practice. The AVA Teacher will collaborate and plan with District 67 teachers who work with students in the In-Person and Fully Remote models.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop instructional materials, accommodations, modifications, assessments and data collection tools needed for students regarding learning activities and outcomesProvide timely and authentic feedback to students and families.Actively support students daily through synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning experiences remotely.Proactively and explicitly teach Social and Emotional Learning standards and create a sense of social connection and psychological safety for students and families.Encourage and foster social interaction for students virtually.Work collaboratively with teams, administrators and families.Communicate weekly with parents or more often if needed.Collect, summarize and make actionable decisions based on assessment data.Demonstrate cooperation, openness for growth, and willingness to contribute to a team approach to the educational program.Problem-solve, schedule daily activities, model good communication, and work effectively with professional staff and parents.Collaborate and plan with District 67 teachers who work with students in the In-Person and Fully Remote models.


Qualifications:
  • Current Professional Educator License (PEL)Strong background in flexible, problem and project based learning through student empowerment and the inquiry processStrong background in pedagogy and high engagement activitiesExperience with virtual learning and instructional technology that encompasses multi-faceted software, tools, apps, and device modalitiesFamiliar with multi-tiered systems of support for behavior and social emotional learningStrong communication skillsOrganized professional who is able to self-plan and monitor progress towards goals independently
