Additional Information:

This position is for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years.
The Housing Navigator Liaison will support families and unaccompanied youth through the process of accessing community housing resources, and help create a system for accessing and coordinating services with our community housing partners. An additional focus of this position will be to create a sustainable process and procedural guide for navigating the local network of housing services.

Summary:

Under the immediate direction and supervision of the assigned Assistant Superintendent, Director or Building Principal, this position provides the necessary leadership in the planning, coordination and implementation of a subject area, special project, or grade level instructional program and performs other duties directly related to this position description.

Responsibilities:

1. Plans cooperatively with District or school staff in the design, development and delivery of all assigned projects or programs.

2. Facilitates and maintains communication between District, project team, parents and school site(s) staff regarding information about the assigned projects or programs.

3. Represents the District, project or program Director and school site(s) as necessary and assists with leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of the particular assignment.

4. Assists with overall responsibility for monitoring program(s) budget and advises designated Supervisor on necessary expenditures.

5. Plans and conducts necessary meetings as related to special assignment.

6. Responsible for receiving, distributing and replying to special assignment communications.

7. Motivates project/program participants to develop skills and attitudes that foster success.

8. Participates with the appropriate District administration to develop the method by which the special assignment is evaluated.

9. Serves as a resource person to ensure program goals meet the specialized need of students.

10. Identifies, encourages and, when feasible, provides on-site staff development and instructional coaching support to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about program components and understand the accountability aspects toward a high performing school.

11. Assists the teachers in maintaining a classroom atmosphere/environment conducive to learning and highest student achievement.

12. Provides instructional support to the school community in the full implementation of the assigned projects or programs.

13. Keeps abreast of current research applicable to the assigned projects or programs.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

1. Maintains and updates knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development activities, workshops and conferences as needed or as assigned.

2. Manages special projects and performs related duties as assigned.

CONDITIONS

Experiences frequent interruptions; may be required to attend meetings beyond regular work hours; occasionally required to work an extended work day and required to travel to district and community sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with appropriate educational endorsement and five years successful teaching experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work. Master's degree preferred in Curriculum and Instruction or related area.

Licenses/Special Requirements
Must maintain all licenses and certifications as a condition of continued employment.
Valid Washington State teaching certificate or ESA certificate.
Valid Washington State driver's license.
Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/Sexual Misconduct clearance.
