Networking for Educational Transitions (NET) Tutor - CR Anderson Middle School

This position provides supervision and educational assistance to students through the structured Networking for Educational Transition program. The NET program is the Helena community's commitment to hold youth accountable for their actions, while ensuring they are provided a bridge back to school through a structured educational program. This is a 10 month, 7 hour per day position.

Qualifications include: High School diploma or equivalent. Previous supervision and/or teaching experience with students in grades 6 - 12 and/or two (2) years of college course work preferred but not required. Entry-level salary for this position is $14.52 per hour. A comprehensive benefit package is provided including coverage during the summer break.

Position Description

Position Title: NET Tutor

Department: Middle School

Reports To: Building Administrator

Date: 06/10/18

SUMMARY: Responsible for providing individualized and group academic assistance to middle school students. This position will also assist in the planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating of academic support services to students in the Network for Educational Transitions, (NET) program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

1) Works cooperatively with classroom teachers while performing assigned duties and responsibilities for assisting students academically.

2) Works with assigned students to provide academic assistance while in the NET program.

3) Participates in all in-service and training workshops as directed. (This may include training offered during scheduled school breaks)

4) May test all students in the NET program for student progress assessment.

5) Maintains essential student records for students in the NET program as requested.

6) Inputs student academic progress and other relevant records in the NET data base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). College coursework in Reading, English, Literacy and/or Mathematics preferred but not required. Teaching Certificate preferred but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before people.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
