Role Mission

The Manager of Alumni Finance & Development will support our "To and Through" college strategy on the National College & Diversity Team at IDEA Public Schools Headquarters. This role is charged with prospecting, cultivating, stewarding, navigating, and managing future external funding opportunities for the fundraising needs to support college matriculation and college persistence & completion efforts.

The Manager of Alumni Finance & Development will be supported by the Director of Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding for meeting ambitious fundraising targets. These goals are met through (a) quality stewardship among all-staff donors via the internal giving campaign "Give Me 5", (b) identifying and prospecting quality leads, for the Alumni Funding team to solicit external gifts from foundations, individuals, and corporations nationally in partnership with the cross-functional teams at IDEA National Headquarters.

This role will be supported by the National Vice-President of College Partnerships, Persistence & Completion and the National Director of Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding. The Manager of Alumni Finance & Development will replicate signature events for our internal giving campaign stewardship strategy, matrix manage processes for alumni funding awarding, manage research and analysis for strategic alumni funding strategies, coordinate funding maps, donor stewardship communication, and support re-occurring grant/foundation reporting.

Accountabilities

 
  • 100% College Matriculation
    • Manage financial aid timeline in partnership with VP of College Access, Directors of College Access, VP of College Partnerships, Persistence, & Completion, Director of College Partnerships and Director of Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding
    • Coordinate network-wide college matriculation awarding process
    • Conduct prior year financial aid EFC analysis to inform matriculation and college completion funding strategy and financial modeling
    • Co-create financial aid professional development for College Access Stakeholders in partnership with Director of Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding with a specialization and focus on Financial Aid Success
    • Matrix manage internal giving campaign for new schools and/or regions as they scale to matriculate 100% of graduating seniors
    • Manage College Signing Day Scholarship Awarding
    • Manage 4-year Funding Award Plan (4FAP) Awarding
    • Manage One-Time Senior Emergency Matriculation Awarding in partnership with Alumni Persistence Team
    • Support Financial Aid Appeals Campaign in partnership with Director of College Partnerships & Director of Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding
    • 100% FAFSA/TAFSA Quality Submission & Completion
    • 100% CSS Profile Submission & Completion
    • 100% of Tier 1 & Tier 2 Merit Scholars or 80% of Senior Class APPLY & SUBMIT to 3+ Endorsed External Scholarships recommended from Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding Team


  •  2. 25% of Alumni Promissory Notes Enrolled in Re-Payment
    • Manage 3 MM promised loaned monies to IDEA Alumni
    • Partner with Director of Financial Literacy & Alumni Funding, Manager of Financial Planning, Internal Accountant, and Tyler Munis Administrator to process engineer efforts to collect monies
    • Manage all-communications to alumni emergency loan recipients
    • Manage alumni digital marketing & communications to cultivate, compel, and convince alumni network to give to Give Me 5, IDEA's Best-in-Class scholarship and emergency loan alumni fund to support our THROUGH college strategy


  •  3. $600,000 Raised in Alumni Funding Externally
    • Matrix-manage funding maps for alumni funding team via quality sourcing, prospecting, qualifying leads process
    • Draft and submit letters of intent
    • Draft, approve, and write final copy of grant applications
    • Liaising with external funders around IDEA's successes
    • Create donor reports (according to agreed upon grant terms)
    • Curate and create donor stewardship collateral


  •  4. $500,000 Raised in Growth and Operations
    • Matrix-manage funding maps for alumni funding team via quality sourcing, prospecting, qualifying leads process
    • Draft and submit letters of intent
    • Draft, approve, and write final copy of grant applications
    • Liaising with external funders around successes
    • Create donor reports (according to agreed upon grant terms)
    • Curate and create donor stewardship collateral


  •  5. $500,000 Invested via CSA's and/or 30% of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Grade Families participate in College Backer College Savings Accounts
    • Matrix-manage and co-create strategy to inform, compel, and convince families in 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade to ensure 30% of graduating seniors graduate from IDEA Public Schools with $500,000 + in college savings

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree required, with quantitative background preferred
    • Advanced excel skills certified preferred, Salesforce (CRM) knowledgeable
    • 1-3years of experience; with a preference development,government relations,fundraising, grant writing,grant management, business strategy, consulting, process-engineering, sales or marketing
    • Proven track record of personally achieving success with entrepreneurial spirit
    • Belief in IDEA's mission and an understanding of what it takes to achieve the goal of college for all children


    Compensation:
    • Salaries for this role typically fall between $57,100 and $68,600, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.   This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
