POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Coordinator - French Full Immersion is responsible for assisting immersion personnel in implementing and monitoring all aspects of the French Full Immersion Program at Dr. Dora Kennedy French Immersion School. In addition the Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Principal at the respective school, and the Supervisor of Immersion and World Languages.

This is a PGCEA, Unit I, Table A, 10-Month Position

Salary Range: $49,468 - $110,709

CLOSING DATE: September 30, 2020

Detailed Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

In order to perform the duties of this position the incumbent must;
  • Monitor and disseminate to all immersion teachers the scope and sequence of the French Full Immersion Program and curricular documents;
  • Support immersion teacher in the classrooms by providing strategies and activities;
  • Call and interact with parents as it relates to the program;
  • Draft letters and correspondence for the immersion program;
  • Work on immersion records for Immersion Office and the school;
  • Interact with SIT team, TAG, Special Education, and other support program for immersion students;
  • Help plan field trips, special programs, projects and other students activities for the French Full Immersion Program;
  • Draft purchase orders for the French Full Immersion Program;
  • Maintain inventories for each grade level;
  • Meet regularly with the Specialist and Supervisor of Immersion program and other personnel on a regular basis;
  • Help translate instructional activities for special needs in the curriculum;
  • Allocate materials and resources;
  • Participate in the School Improvement Plan;
  • Help with the Literacy Program in the target language;
  • Participate in the enrollment process for the program;
  • Model lessons for teachers;
  • Develop a volunteer Reading Program with parents;
  • Provide in-house in-service for teachers; and
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Job Requirements:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Native Speaker of French or near-native proficiency in French;
  • Experience as a French/French Immersion Teacher;
  • At least (5) years of successful teaching;
  • Good human relations skills;
  • Experience in writing curriculum;
  • Experience in conducting in-services or workshops; and
  • Excellent oral and communication skills.



  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor's degree or Master Equivalent, preferably in Elementary Education; MD Advance Certificate preferred.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Holds or is eligible for a Professional Certificate appropriate to area of assignment issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    No direct supervisory responsibilities.
