MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST- HVAC/BOILER

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $26.11 - $31.34 per hour

POSITION SALARY RANGE: $26.11 - $39.17 per hour

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

Maintain and repair all heating and ventilation systems, kitchen equipment, hydronic boilers, hot water systems , gas trains and other mechanical systems .

SUPERVISED BY: Director of Buildings and Grounds Maintenance

ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
  1. Troubleshoot, repair and maintain the heating systems in all district facilities to include boilers, heat pumps, chillers, hot water heaters etc.
  2. Maintain and repair all pumps, motors and control valves associated with HVAC systems.
  3. Maintain and repair all the controls associated with HVAC units, refrigeration units, and motor controllers (digital controls).
  4. Purchase and manage refrigerant and repair any refrigerated units and manage the computer program for CFC use per EPA regulations.
  5. Respond to emergency calls, determine the nature of the problem and see that necessary repairs are completed. Carry emergency cell phone and respond to off-hour emergencies on a one-week rotating basis year-round.
  6. Inform the Director of needs/requests that should be completed by an outside contractor.
  7. Maintain a list of vendors necessary for the ordering of parts, supplies and materials.
  8. Maintain a working knowledge of current laws, codes and regulations pertaining to assigned tasks.
  9. Conduct weekly clean up and organization of vehicle. Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment (in the shop and on assigned District vehicle) and keep them in good working order.
  10. Coordinate new construction projects with the construction coordinator, architects, engineers and inspectors to ensure compliance with District standards.
  11. Analyze blueprints and inform the Construction Coordinator on any changes on new construction and remodels.
  12. Work along with or independently of, other maintenance personnel and/or custodial staff and maintain a positive working relationship with all District personnel.
  13. Immediately notify the Director of any known situation that may be hazardous to students, staff or public.
  14. Conduct quality control inspections of new and established equipment.

All district personnel, contractors, architects, engineers, construction coordinator and inspectors (state and local), various technical support groups, vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Valid Colorado driver's license.
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. E.P.A. Certification (or acquire within 6 months of hire), plus 3 years combined experience.
  1. High degree of working knowledge of electrical wiring and maintenance.
  2. Complete 16 hours asbestos worker training within 6 months of hire.
  3. Experience with energy management systems.
  4. Experience with all aspects of boiler operation, safety and control.
  5. Effective computer skills.
  6. Must have knowledge of using and programming DDC control systems.
