This position will perform the most advanced professional/technical work in a facilitator role maintaining a complex technical system. This position will serve as an authority on a broad range of network/server developmental/implementation issues. Incumbents are expected to be the primary technical resource in assisting personnel in identifying and resolving technical issues. Position may work with communities and advisory groups in developing standards and strategic planning documents governing information network/server infrastructure direction. Frequently deal with implementation and design issues in situations of unusual difficulty or in scenarios where time and resource loss are critical and network/server recovery is of primary importance. An irregular work schedule will be required with this position dictating periodic after hours or weekend work in order to meet both preventative and problem resolution issues as they relate to maintaining a complex technical system.
At this level, the incumbent will serve as a technical advisor throughout the PPSD IT department on system issues. Works with vendors and outside users to ensure technical directions and solutions are both compatible and efficient. This position will exercise supervisory and managerial responsibilities over teams of professionals working with hardware, software and communication networks (LAN/WANS). Performs the most advanced professional/technical work associated with bridging user requirements with the capabilities of an information system.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist the ITO with the evaluation of technical staff as requiredSupervise technical staff as necessaryApplies the knowledge of principals, practices and procedures required to develop/design and implement information system based solution in a LAN/WAN environment.Reviews present and prospective software/hardware methodologies in order to keep agency practices current with advancing technology.Utilizes extensive knowledge and experience in project control techniques including cost/time estimating, resource scheduling, and solution delivery.Applies knowledge of design techniques and topology in order to enhance and improve network efficiency and problem determination.Extracts logical commonalities among classes of network problems to accelerate problem identification and resolution.Coordinate and/or delegate activities of staff members in support of complex networks-LANS/WANS.Helps staff in the receipt and reviewing of technical bids to ensure compliance with minimum specification as well as compatibility with existing network.Assist in developing strategic plans governing future network design and support issues, monitor these plans for government and legal compliance.Provides direction in handling end-users support request via telephone, help desk and site visits.Maintains technical expertise on hardware, software, network configuration, or peripherals using various methods of learning: reviewing technical information, attending training sessions, using self-paced learning, working with other staff.Perform installation and configuration on both hardware and software and overseeing subordinates who are learning to perform these tasks.Monitor system(s) operations through field staff reports and by on-site visits via management software systems and hardware monitoring.Reviews request for hardware and software for compatibility with established systems, assigning research to subordinates.Meets with users to discuss automation plans, technology and networking plans, provides system and related costs analyses to planning staff, discusses alternatives to arrive at cost and time effective solutions to user needs.Designs wiring plans for computer, network and telecommunications, installing and testing cabling and equipment (including installation of upgrade cards, memory and other devices to improve existing equipment as well as assembly, initial testing and final installation of new computer equipment and related devices), planning, installation, monitoring and maintenance of LAN and Wide Area Network (WAN).Provide high level of support for the District's Server InfrastructureMonitor, Support and Manage the Help Desk and Depot day to day activitiesDevelops and maintain documentationManage Office 365 and Azure platform.Administer and monitor SCCM (remote connect, implement reports, trouble shoot tech issues). Responsible for inventory and asset tracking of hardware in the building. This includes data input of this information.Manage all aspects of Active Directory and proficient creating and testing GPOs.Manage Exchange Servers, Printer Servers, and all district BackupsProvides other duties as assigned by Superintendent or their designate.


Salary Rate Range

$80, 254 - $93, 631

Qualifications
