NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SOCIAL WORKER
COMMITTEE FOR PRESCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION (CPSE)

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be New York State certified in Social Work. Preference is given to those candidates that hold a Licensed Clinical Social Work Certification(LCSW). A minimum of two (2) years of social work experience, with at least one (1) year experience working with an alternative education or community/school collaboration is preferable. Candidates should have experience in providing clinical support and in demonstrating ability in a wide range of therapeutic modalities. It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, establishing an environment to enhance individual growth and promote a positive self-image; processing and facilitating on-going services for students with disabilities and their families in an early childhood setting; social skill development, and educational opportunities and acting as a key member of an interdisciplinary team consisting of instructional personnel, psychologists, counselors, and other team members as required. The social worker will schedule and conduct home visitation conferences, provide parent training as recommended on IEP, obtain consents for students referred to the CPSE and gather comprehensive social histories for students. The social worker will administer adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures, secure outside data needed to prepare adaptive behavior and parental checklist measures, secure outside data needed to prepare for CSE meetings and perform classroom observations when needed. The social worker will work individually or in groups with students in need of support services and counseling, offer strategies and support to parents, serve as a consultant to teachers, implement PBS and perform any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate.
