E ssential Functions and Objectives:

- The Secondary Special Education paraprofessional supports the educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical and daily living needs of middle and high school level students with disabilities in integrated, resource, self-contained and community settings. Assists in conducting testing and assessment, multi-media activities, record-keeping, computer operation, discipline, and other activities. May assist with lifting and transporting of students, as well as daily living activities such as toileting, diapering, feeding, and personal hygiene as trained and directed.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

Some positions may require the transportation of students, in which case a valid Colorado driver's license, auto insurance, and a good driving record are required.

- Provides instruction in a Pragmatic Language Affective Needs classroom, a center program designed to meet the needs of students with impacted dyssemic and/or pragmatic language and affective needs that significantly impact access to general education. Must have experience working with the structures needed for students with executive functioning disorders such as: Autism Spectrum Disorders and severe AD-HD, in addition to pragmatic language concerns. Strong emphasis on a highly structured classroom arrangement, individual and classroom behavior management systems, visual schedules, and social communication instruction.

For ECE Para's Only:

Copy of your high school diploma or GED

AND

Must successfully complete ECE 101 within a designated period of time which will be determined after hire.
