  During the ‘20 - ‘21 school year, Greenwich Public Schools is looking for a 1.0 professional assistant leave replacement position at Hamilton Avenue School and a p/t .8 ESOL professional assistant split between ISD and Windrose. In this role, you will provide instructional support to English Learners (ELs). This includes working with students in small groups and one-on-one to help develop their English language acquisition across four language domains: listening, speaking, reading and writing, so they can participate meaningfully in mainstream classes.
The responsibilities associated with this position include:
1.0 professional asst. Leave replacement F/T daily at Ham Ave: 7:45 am - 3:15 PM (35 hours per week; benefits offered)
.8 professional asst. Leave replacement P/T at ISD & Windrose, 8:30 - 1:30 PM (28 hours per week)

The responsibilities associated with this position include:
- Working one-on-one with students at various English proficiency levels, particularly newcomers, to further language acquisition;
- Serving as an in-class ELL/ESL support for mainstream teachers in courses with clusters of ELL students;
- Becoming familiar with classroom content and assisting staff in executing differentiated ELL instructional practices;
- Assisting in managing student behavior in order to create a safe, positive learning environment;
- Assisting in administering district and state-required ELL assessments; and
- Supporting ELL teachers with clerical tasks (eg. photocopying, filing, creating instructional tools under their direction, organizing materials, etc.)
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English;
- Written and oral proficiency in Spanish is not required but helpful;
- Ability to work effectively with children and teachers;
- Sensitivity to the cultural needs of ELL students;
- Interest in and respect for a variety of cultures;
- Must have at least 60 college credits (Associate's degree) or successfully pass the Parapro examination;
- Experience working in a school setting preferred; and
- Must be able to provide 2 professional references.
