Job Details
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Training in behavior management.
- A minimum of two years providing behavioral supports to students in a school environment.
- Good basic computer skills and experience with word processing programs. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Ability to effectively, efficiently, and regularly communicate and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, including students, peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and representatives of outside organizations.
- Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and handle stress.
Preferred Skills:
- Training and experience in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)
- Experience in alternative education programs in a public school setting
Essential Duties:
The Planning Room Paraeducator position will work with the principal, teachers, and other support personnel to build positive relationships with school stakeholders, collaborate and communicate effectively through a variety of methods, provide leadership of behavior management and supervision; facilitate the resolution of conflict; plan, organize and manage time and resources, to include but not limited to the following:
- Management of school behavioral expectations, including attendance classroom alignment with school-wide goals.
- Collaboration with students, parents, and teachers regarding student-related policies.
- Collaboration with staff in the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans.
- Ability to serve as a resource to staff regarding student management issues & social-emotional learning.
- Assist in the development of embedded education alternatives for students in need.
- Collaborate with special educators in the development of behavioral and social-emotional learning plans.
- Support learning of students in behavioral and social-emotional curriculum.
- Assist team with review data related to student behavior through the student management system (PowerSchool). Compiles and shares student discipline data regularly to assist the team in making decisions.
- Serve on PBIS and Restorative Practices team.
- Attends appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success as needed
- Assists in the maintenance of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements.
This is a Full-Time position, 8 hours per day, five days per week, normal school hours. Health/Dental/Life/Sick Leave/Retirement Benefits available according to the BEA-Para CBA.
