Position Title:
Full Time- Long Term Substitute Math Teacher
Description:
The mathematics position is a full-time, temporary position starting immediately. The teacher may teach remotely.
Candidates must have strong content and pedagogical knowledge and will be responsible for teaching calculus, pre-
calculus/trigonometry, and geometry. Experience in professional learning teams, common assessments, and
remediation is desired.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator's License with secondary mathematics endorsement
required. Exceptional candidates will have experience teaching across the secondary mathematics curricula.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Carmel Catholic High School is a Catholic institution; employees are expected to support the school mission regardless of
their personal religious affiliation.
Maintaining the already established classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the
maturity and interests of the students.
Maintaining the already established rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintaining order in a fair and
consistent manner.
Teaching within a hybrid model of instruction, with students in-person and remote.
Establishing clear objectives for all learning activities and communicating these objectives to students.
Assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and providing progress reports as required.
Working cooperatively with other school personnel in the identification, education, and remediation of individual
students.
Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment and facilities.
Maintaining accurate and complete records.
Assisting the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
Attending staff meetings and serving on staff committees.
Demonstrating employee responsibilities in completing duties accurately and promptly.
Performing such other duties as may be assigned by the building administrator.
Requirements:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
Mathematics Endorsement
Ability to pass criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
