  • JOB TITLE: Principal Secretary
    LOCATION: SOAR Academy High School
    WORK YEAR: 200 work days, 7.5 hours/day, Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm with a 30 minute lunch break during the day
    WORK STATUS: Classified Full Time, Non-Exempt
    REPORTS TO: School Principal

    POSITION SUMMARY
    SOAR Academy is actively seeking a Principal Secretary. This position is responsible for providing secretarial and registrar support to the principal and coordinating activities in the main office. Develops and promotes good community relations among students, parents, and community members. Also responsible for various functions relating to the health and medication of students.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    1. Manages the enrollment process, including enrollment of students, management of student records, records requests, transcript data entry, and October count processes.
    2. Composes, types, distributes and mails a variety of correspondence, reports, documents and other communications, including communicating website updates to the technology team.
    3. Receives phone calls, takes and routes messages, maintains and programs all bell schedules, master clock, and copier codes.
    4. Maintains a variety of files, meeting minutes and committee records; updates and maintains staff, student and emergency handbooks and various documents.
    5. Maintains request for summer maintenance work orders, account for teacher's classroom inventory and teacher check-out policies.
    6. Serves as primary contact in cases of emergency such as fire alarms, student illness, accidents and police notification.
    7. Coordinates various activities connected to graduation and other special events; diplomas, ceremony, vendors.
    8. Responsible for maintaining the culture and climate bulletin boards in our commons area.
    9. Responsible for purchasing supplies, collecting student fees, reconciling monthly expenditures, managing the activities account, and submitting payroll and time sheets for classified employees.
    10. Maintains absence reports, conferences, field trips and bus requests. Procure substitutes and arranges class coverage as needed.
    11. Assesses family needs, provides resources, and education for families.
    12. Works with the school social worker to serve the social, educational and health needs of
    families.
    13. Implements and maintains a program for the utilization of volunteers.
    14. Maintains a regular program of outreach and recruitment in the community.
    15. Perform oral and written translations.
    16. Provide first aid to students, including parent contact, consultation with school nurse as needed.
    17. Maintains daily log of student visits, medication oversight, administration, and documentation. Enters health information into IC including Health problems, Immunizations, Health visits, and Screening results
    18. Makes sure health office is adequately stocked, organizes and performs vision and hearing screenings as well as entering results into infinite campus, and provides attention to and oversight of children with health care plans/special health care needs
    19. Follow up with students missing immunizations for immunization compliance, performance of delegated tasks such as medications, tube feedings, colostomy bags, diabetes care and distribution of care plans and health problem lists to staff
    20. Maintains ongoing communication with school nurse regarding all health issues.
    21. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Education or Formal Training
    • High school graduate, some college coursework preferred
    • Basic knowledge of or the ability to learn Infinite Campus (Student Information System)
    • Bilingual in Spanish required
    Experience
    • One to three years clerical or secretarial experience preferred
    • Experience in an educational environment preferred
    Skills

    Must hold or be able to obtain the following. District will provide training.
    • First Aid/ CPR Certified

    CLEARANCE
    Must clear online Records check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

    SALARY
    This position is classified and is an at-will position with the Sheridan School District. Initial placement on current approved Office Personnel Salary Schedule based upon previous experience in a related field. The current Board approved classified salary schedule is available online for review at the Sheridan School District Website at https://filecabinet5.eschoolview.com/52FC275F-2398-4088-B57F-33576D21AE37/Salary/officepersonnel2020.pdf. Highest initial placement on the Classified salary schedule is class 4, step 5. Starting hourly range is between $18.06 and $20.08 per hour and is based upon previous related experience.

    BENEFITS
    Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 10% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA and the District contributes 20.9% in addition to employee contribution.
