Special Education Paraeducator LTS


(Position open until Decmeber 31, with a review peiod for possible continuation into 2021.)

Description:

Paraeducators play a vital role in supporting individualized instruction for elementary students in the classroom and small group environments. Paraeducators facilitate and supplement the educational process under the direction of a professional staff member.

Responsibilities include communicating with members of a student's educational team, carrying out programs designed by the teaching staff, managing behavior, teaching self-regulation skills, and supporting and facilitating social engagement with peers. Physical responsibilities include lifting, carrying, personal care, and the ability to assess a situation and respond quickly.

Qualifications include:

1. They demonstrate the belief that all students, regardless of their background or circumstance, can learn and achieve at high levels.
2. High school diploma plus at least 2 years additional education
3. Minimum of two years experience in education or related field.
4. Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, parents, and school staff.

Salary:

As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Paraeducators of the Burlington School District. Health and life insurance benefits are available for this position after a period of 45 working days. Dental benefits available after 1 full working year.
