Graham and Parks School Community:
Graham and Parks serves a diverse population of students and families that come from 36 different countries, speak 26 different languages, and bring a rich cultural diversity to our school. Our school includes four different programs: General Education, Sheltered English Immersion, Language-Based Learning Disabilities, and an integrated preschool classroom.

Our school is named after Saundra Graham, a long time community activist and public servant in Cambridge, and Rosa Parks. The mission of the Graham and Parks Alternative Public School is to educate the whole child: to help every child in our school fully develop his or her unique intellectual, social, and emotional capabilities. Believing that all children can meet high standards and become lifelong learners, we foster a child-centered learning environment in which children build upon their individual strengths while they are challenged to expand their skills and strive for new goals. Because curiosity and focused inquiry drive genuine learning, we strive for a classroom experience that engages children as active learners who take full ownership of their educations. And we pursue our mission as a democratic school community that values and relies upon the ideas, experiences, and talents of all our members, working together-teachers, students, parents, administrators, and staff.

At Graham and Parks we are always working towards our shared vision:

Equity: At Graham and Parks, we ensure that no individual or group is underserved, underrepresented or invisible. We celebrate diversity and foster equity, antiracism and inclusion.

Curriculum and Instruction: At Graham and Parks, we collaborate to: integrate our students across programs, develop learning opportunities that are responsive to our students' identities, and ensure universal access to a project-based curriculum to develop skills in the context of high-quality work, which students share with their families throughout the year.

Partnering with Families: At Graham and parks, we partner with families to support student development and learning and to build an inclusive international community.

Social-Emotional Learning: At Graham and Parks, we keep students and staff safe and supported. Our community intentionally fosters social-emotional growth and shares consistent behavioral expectations and values. We partner with all families to support student development and learning to build an inclusive, international community.

Professional Community: At Graham and Parks, we create strong adult relationships where everyone is seen and valued. We maintain and live our "norms". We cultivate a respectful, diverse adult community.

The Opportunity:
In collaboration with the grade level teaching team and academic coaches, the teacher will create a well-structured and creative learning environment that builds on student strengths and supports independence. Duties will include planning for and teaching all subjects; developing integrated, project-based units with other members of the teaching team; working with colleagues to review student work; participation in ongoing staff development; keeping systematic records, and conducting parent conferences.

In addition, the teacher will demonstrate excellence in the following areas: balanced literacy and math instruction, project-based learning, differentiated instruction, full inclusion practices, and the development of multicultural, culturally proficient curriculum. The teacher will work with our Literacy Coach and our Math Coach to grow as an educator, work collaboratively with special education staff to support students with disabilities, and work with colleagues to co plan both the daily and long-term curriculum.

The teacher will build and sustain a classroom community that provides a safe and nurturing learning environment with clear and high expectations for all students. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Graham and Parks School and be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.
