K-12 District-wide Program

Qualifications: Hold a valid New York State School District Leader or School Administrator/Supervisor certificate (SDL or SAS). The preferred candidate will have at least 10 years of successful teaching, administrative or education-related professional experience at the building level and leadership experience with instructional technology programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: The position is responsible for assisting the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Student Services in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the K-12 instructional technology program and operation.

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Student Services, or his/her designee.

Salary: Negotiable commensurate with experience

Job Description

General Description:
The Director of Technology Integration will direct and oversee the integration of technology into the classroom as recommended by stakeholder committees and user needs. The Director will oversee and coordinate the development of the instructional technology curriculum and select technology-oriented learning tools for classrooms in partnership with the Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education and in alignment with the District Strategic Plans. The Director will also assist in the development of online publications or programs, will coordinate and provide professional development to teachers, staff and administrators, as needed, in classroom technology and instructional technology best practices.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have/hold:
  • Valid and appropriate New York State administrative certificate
  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching, administrative or education related professional educator experience is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of the principles and practices of district-wide program administration and of current educational trends in curriculum and instruction as it relates to instructional technology;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and community members
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, community members, staff and administrators
  • Ability to be flexible, detail-oriented and able to prioritize and deal with ambiguity, and work well under pressure
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Exemplary knowledge of the appropriate uses of technology for communication and instruction
  • Knowledge of the New York State Standards for curriculum content and instruction
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively as a team member
  • Other qualifications as designated by the Kenmore-Tonawanda UFSD Board of Education


Duties and Responsibilities: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
  1. The Director of Technology Integration shall guide the district in the implementation of classroom technology.
  • Meet regularly with stakeholders to evaluate current programs, assess needs, and prepare for future implementations.
  • Coordinate with other district technology leaders to co-facilitate the District's Technology Committee and be responsible for writing and updating the District's Technology Plan and for complying with state and federal requirements related to such plan.
  • Facilitate various meetings (e.g. Strategic Plan for Technology, Advisory Committees, Focus Groups, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating agendas and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district and / or state objectives.
  • Stay current with trends in education and instructional technology best practices to make recommendations for the direction of district technology.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments in technology education at the local, state and national levels.
  • Represent the district at area and state technology organization meetings.
  • Attend vendor seminars and training classes and regularly read technical publications and periodicals in order to stay abreast of technological developments.
  • Be familiar with and abide by Federal and New York State laws and regulations, Board of Education policies, district regulations, and school procedures that relate to use of instructional technology.
  • Perform additional/other technology services as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Student Services or designee.

  1. The Director of Technology Integration shall facilitate the overall development and management of the instructional technology budget and needed inventory used for instructional technology purchases.
  • Guide responsible purchasing for all technology related items.
  • Collaborate with the Technology Services Department to assist with the bidding process, purchase, distribution, maintenance, and installation of hardware, software, and other technological equipment and materials within instructional programs.
  • Serve as liaison to outside vendors that provide support for technology equipment and materials.
  • Maintain clear records for accountability and auditing purposes.
  • Guide technology grant funding as opportunities become available including E-rate funding.

  1. The Director of Technology Integration shall oversee the training of District staff in the use of instructional technology and instructional best practices.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to principals and other district personnel in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective instructional technology throughout the district.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development plan for the use of instructional technology.
  • Coordinate opportunities for professional development with the Staff Development Center.
  • Provide (or coordinate the provision of) staff development to teachers and administrators in methods of involving technology in the delivery of curriculum.
  • Coordinate the writing of curriculum for technology programs and monitor the instructional process in all content areas using technology.
  • Coordinate instruction and documentation for the effective use of technology.
  • Coordinate instruction to encourage integration of technology into the curriculum.
  • Establish an environment encouraging creative and independent use of instructional technology.

  1. The Director of Technology Integration shall provide guidance and support for the school webmasters.
  • Guide the school webmasters in the creation of web pages to accurately represent the schools.
  • Provide professional development for the school webmasters on developing quality and timely communications using web pages.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with the school webmasters to discuss current concerns and needs.
  • Coordinate procedures for timely updates to all web pages.
  • Develop and implement a plan for department and faculty web pages.

  1. The Director of Technology Integration shall supervise all personnel within the instructional technology department.
  • Manage immediate supervision of the Instructional Support Specialists for Technology, including evaluation.
  • Assist building principals with the supervision evaluation of building technology programs and/or personnel.
  • Coordinate the activities and provide support for building tech liaisons.
  • Coordinate activities of outside vendors, consultants and trainers.

  1. The Director of Technology Integration shall coordinate with the Director of Informational Data and Accountability (CIO) on the data management needs of the district.
  • Collaborate to ensure the integration of data entry for the student information system to maximize efficiency when working with student applications.
  • Maintain up-to-date software as related to data management and mining.
  • Coordinate efforts to work with faculty and staff to develop useful and relevant data reports and letters.
  • Coordinate efforts to work with faculty and staff to ensure effective communications with families.

  1. ADDITIONAL JOB CONSIDERATIONS & FACTORS
  • Necessary travel throughout the district requires the use of a private vehicle and valid driver's license.
  • Attendance at regular Board of Education meetings may be required.
  • The Director of Technology Integration may conduct independent evaluations consistent with APPR requirements of classrooms piloting instructional technology integrated programs
  • Work outside of regular school hours may be required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities.
