The Town of Wellesley's Facilities Management Department (FMD) is one of the foremost public facilities organizations in Massachusetts. We maintain and operate twenty-nine (29) Town buildings totaling over 1.2 million square feet with a staff of 73 and an operating budget of $8.3 million, plus a $1.85M major capital projects budget. The FMD is looking to replace a vacant Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician position on our maintenance staff of seven licensed trades' persons. FMD provides outstanding support for our maintenance staff in the form of regular professional development opportunities, tools/equipment and other resources needed to succeed in a supportive/collaborative working environment.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the HVAC Technician's primary responsibility is the maintenance of building HVAC systems and gas-fired equipment. The incumbent performs a full range of HVAC duties to include the installation, renovation, repair and preventive maintenance in support of the overall maintenance of municipal and school buildings. Work is performed in compliance with Massachusetts HVAC codes and is checked in progress or upon completion to ensure it complies with accepted standards and codes.

The incumbent performs assigned tasks without close supervision, following established procedures, and is given direct and detailed instructions on new and different assignments. The incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the trade and be knowledgeable in the use of all trade tools and instruments. The work schedule requires some early morning, night, weekend, stand by and emergency work.

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent; five years' experience working as a professional HVAC technician in a commercial or industrial setting; possession of a valid driver's license and a valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician (HVAC) License. Familiarity with Metasys building controls by Johnson Controls, Inc. and School Dude work order system preferred.

Current salary range: up to $77,043, plus overtime as available. Excellent benefits including health and dental insurance, sick time and retirement plan.
