The Retention Specialist closely monitors student attendance, ensuring accuracy and following up accordingly with students missing attendance as well as their learning coaches and teachers. In addition to coordinating the activities for the student and family retention team, the position also functions as a key resource for the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of student attendance and progress; Contacts students with missing attendance; Follows-up with Learning Coaches for students with missing attendance; Notifies teachers about attendance issues;
  • Acts as point of contact for families that have problems logging in to the online learning system (OLS);
  • Serves as an information resource and provides problem-solving and ongoing support;
  • Notes students account with contact information; Notifies teachers if contact information is not updated in the Total View Enrollment/SAMS

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
  • Associate’s degree AND
  • Six (6) months of professional work experience OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to pass required background check

Language Ability:

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.

Math Ability:

Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to maintain command of theoretical knowledge of human behavior and learning including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; and experience using a student information system and/or other type of database software. Experience moderating web meetings (Elluminate, Webinar, Webex) for small and large groups.

This position is a virtual position working from a home office. Must have ability to travel as needed. Position may require travel to occur during a weekend.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
